Why don't you date your products?
All Kangaroo products are frozen immediately
after baking to preserve freshness. All products ship to your local
store frozen.
Unfortunately, we must rely on store managers to "thaw and
date" each package before it gets merchandised on shelves.
If you encounter situations with packages unmarked with a freshness
date, please contact Kangaroo immediately.
We appreciate your help keeping stores accountable.
Allergens, Peanuts, health concerns?
WHEAT is the only allergen in our Bakery.
Our bakery does not produce products with nuts or other major allergens.
If you have further questions regarding this important subject,
contact our Operations Manager, Kristina Kashou, at 800-798-0857
x115.
How did you get the pocket in there?
Normally, before we answer this question, we
would have to relocate you under the Kangaroo Protection Program.
However, since the secret has already been leaked, we may as well
divulge it to you.
The round, flat pieces of dough are
baked at 700° for one minute. The extreme temperature causes
the water in the dough to explode (or turn to steam) and escape,
which puffs-up the dough, like a balloon, thus creating the pocket!
Warning: Do not try this at home!

How do I get my store to stock Kangaroo?
It is easy. Just visit the Shopper

have a TV crew ready!)
Seriously, please call us or have your store manager call us at

History of Pita Bread?
The history of pita has many versions presented
in literature and online (see
Wikipedia). You will learn a few facts here. For one, pita bread
is one of the oldest recipes known to mankind. Also, Mediterranean
countries were first to develop it and continue to use it as a food-scooping
utensil.
The word Pita is a generic term for: round, flat bread. It originated
from the Greek word Pitta, which is defined as: Thin, flat layers.
Later on, it was adopted by the Romans and used
as a crust for Pizza. In the 1970s, Pita bread was made famous in
the US by the "pocket".
Kangaroo Brands, Inc. was the first company world wide to pre-slice
pita bread and the only company to offer Pre-opened Pocket Bread,
which was granted a US Federal Patent in 2003.

Is Yeast used to make Pita Bread?
Yes, and yeast is a very important ingredient.
It allows the dough to rise, or proof, before baking. Yeast is what
makes our bread taste sooooo good!
